Action grows and so are our Payroll Teams. You play an important role in our extensive HR team, particularly focusing on payroll operations for the German and Austrian markets. Your expertise is indispensable as you support payroll activities across all 12 markets where Action operates, including our headquarters. The entire cross-regional payroll team relies on your guidance and knowledge.

As the Payroll Expert, you play a crucial role in the international payroll team, reporting directly to the Manager International Payroll and Support. Collaborating closely with local payroll experts in Austria and Germany, you oversee payroll operations for these countries, ensuring smooth processing and addressing any issues that arise. Serving as the primary point of contact for payroll-related matters, you provide guidance and support to local experts, resolving issues and setting guidelines to maintain an overview of payroll activities.

Your duties go beyond handling local tasks to cover a range of complex payroll responsibilities. This includes processing payroll, creating reports, managing records, and ensuring that financial and audit standards are met.

Our HR Shared Service Center is a constituent part of a large HR organization within Action serving the headquarters and our country offices (payroll and personnel administration). The department consists of three teams: Payroll and Support, HR Information Systems, and HR Administration. We are currently looking for candidates to join our growing Payroll team and be part of large-scale cross-border transformations. This is you


You have proven experience with establishing, implementation and maintenance of appropriate internal payroll controls, operating processes, policies and procedures. To act as an advisor you can critically review and analyze payroll procedures and provide expertise for payroll insourcing program across countries. You help anticipate legislation amendments regarding taxation, social security, insurances, and closely collaborate with payroll coordinators, business analysts and other stakeholders involved. As a payroll professional you naturally pragmatic and have an eye for details while executing the plan and keeping up with the deadlines. Your energy is constantly nurtured by the dynamics of payroll processes and contribution to the team’s success. 

You also have the following:

  • at least 2 years of experience in a similar role within a European, international business setting.
  • expertise in Payroll and HR systems (e.g. SAP (Employee Central Payroll) 
  • knowledge of European tax, social security and payroll processes.
  • proven advanced Excel skills
  • advanced proficiency in verbal and written German and English
