Team Lead Cash and Bank Accounting

Full-time, 38 hours

Action is looking for a Cash & Bank Accounting Team Leader within our Financial Services department.  Your team will be responsible for all of Action's cash flows and payments.  If you'd like to show your enthusiasm for leadership and put your financial knowledge to good use at Europe's largest retailer, please continue reading.

Your daily tasks

Your team, consisting of six Bank & Treasury professionals, will be responsible for the payment process in our stores through to receivables at the bank and executing payments  on behalf of all Action stores and entities across Europe.
As Cash & Bank Accounting Team Leader, you will relish the challenge of optimising these processes and supporting, directing and motivating your team.

You will carry out daily team checks on incoming cash flows and remain in contact with the Accounts Payable (AP), HR Payments, Treasury and Store Operations departments, among others.  As the Team Lead, you will ensure that your team processes the payments received from other departments and that they book bank transfers correctly and in full for the Accounts Receivable (AR) process. You will delegate such operational tasks where necessary, and are happy to share your knowledge with the team.
Your department will pay particular attention to coordinating cash transports to ensure that the starting funds for new stores and the timely delivery of change are handled correctly. You will be responsible for ensuring that this process runs smoothly.

In this role, it is very important to maintain close contact with the stakeholders involved, such as the Fraud and Store Security department, the country financial managers and business controllers. You will maintain contact with internal and external stakeholders, including auditing accountants, to ensure processes run smoothly for all stakeholders.

In addition:

  • You will need to be hands-on in your focus to help your team perform optimally.
  • You will oversee projects to help achieve our international growth.

Your team

You will be part of the Cash & Bank Accounting team, which consists of six employees and the Team Lead. Your team is part of the Accounting & Reporting department within Financial Services, where more than 100 specialists work in a range of roles. Financial Services takes care of the full administration of our international organisation up to and including the delivery of the annual accounts. If you want to work in the dynamic environment of Europe's fastest-growing retailer with plenty of international growth opportunities,  it's time to take action!

What you offer

As a team leader, you are comfortable dealing with people and have excellent communication skills. You know how to manage your stakeholders and you are a real people manager for your team.

In addition:

  • You have at least seven years' experience in accounting and/or financial administration, including at least two years as a senior employee or team lead
  • You have a Bachelor's degree (higher professional diploma) in a financial domain
  • You have an excellent command of English, both spoken and written
  • You are comfortable using Excel
  • Experience with financial software is a requirement, and experience with SAP is an asset.

What we offer

Quite a lot, actually! From our bustling headquarters in the Netherlands, you'll have an impact across the whole of Europe. We're now up to more than 2,500 stores in 12 countries and millions of smiles from our customers – and we're not stopping there, because we have big growth ambitions for both Action and you. Our growth means you can always take new steps to develop as a professional, whether that means a different position, an interesting innovation project or new skills. And you can do all that in a culture where we truly live our shared values: customer focus, teamwork, simplicity, discipline, cost-consciousness and respect.

You can also count on Action for the following:

  • 24 days' holiday with the option to buy five additional days (based on 38 hours per week)
  • A competitive salary based on a 38-hour week
  • An annual bonus of between 10% and 20% based on achieving company and personal targets
  • The option to spend up to 40% of your hours working from home (in coordination with your team and manager)
  • 15% staff discount on your purchases at Action
  • A good pension scheme, collective health insurance and travel allowance (Zwaagdijk-Oost is reachable from Amsterdam by car in just 30 minutes on uncongested roads).

How we contribute to society

If you only know Action from the stores, a world will open up for you when you join us. For example, we are working hard behind the scenes to make a positive impact on society and the environment. Did you know, for example, that we sponsor more than 2,000 children worldwide who are growing up in an SOS Children’s Village? That our team reflects the diversity of our customers, including 124 nationalities? That we already source 70% of our wood products and 86% of our cotton sustainably? And that only energy-efficient LED lighting is used in more than half of our stores? Yes, that is also Action. Curious about what other initiatives we’re facilitating? Join our team and find out for yourself.
